Here's what we do

Snake Cupboard

The tombs of the great pyramids unexpectedly inspired the Snake Jewellery Cabinet, while visiting Egypt to learn family wartime history. The ancient tombs were securely sealed, to keep precious gold and jewellery safe for the afterlife. This highly detailed cabinet boasts curved doors and a decorative snake handle to protect the precious contents. Inside, intricate curved drawers represent the jewellery boxes of tombs, and are complemented by an oval vanity mirror made of blackwood. Musk, a very rare Tasmanian timber, was selected for its inimitable colour and burl pattern, symbolic of the exquisite ancient Egyptian culture. The three legs are made of Tasmanian myrtle and are highlighted with ebony, providing contrast and structure to the contoured cabinet body.

The Huon Tree

‘The Huon Tree’ shelving unit artfully mimics it’s namesake, the Huon pine tree. One of the longest-living trees on Earth, and native to Tasmania, the Huon pine tree grows arching branches, as symbolised in the elegant floating shelves

The Vase

‘The Vase’ chest of drawers embodies our craftsman’s design philosophy – to adapt an ordinary item and apply a little defiance of convention, while preserving and ensuring function. The bold curvature of this five-drawer chest suggests the undulations of an ornamental vase, reminiscent of Italian baroque design. Crafted with Norfolk Island pine, The Vase presents a modern sleek face, with recessed handles. The feature side panels are finished in spectacular Walnut Burl veneer.

The Burj

‘The Burj’ tall boy replicates the iconic architectural landmark, Burj Al Arab. On a Dubai stopover visit I was captivated by this elegant tower building, especially having a background trade as a builder. I was intrigued by the way it’s tall ‘sails’ soar out of turquoise surrounding shores, and I was inspired to recreate this exquisite icon as afunctional timber unit. Using only photos to determine dimensions, this unique tallboy was achieved after two years of making scale models. Six curved drawers feature full-width decorative handles embodying the multiple levels of the building. The brave curvature of the drawers was achieved through triangular shape construction with a centre dovetail runner. Manufactured with Tasmanian celery top pine and myrtle, The Burj features blue dyed timber ‘windows’, helipad, and cantilever restaurant, all crafted to scale.

The Leaf

The unique leaf-shaped sideboard is manufactured from Huon Pine and Figured Red Gum. It has curved doors and drawers representing a floating leaf; a design inspired by a visit to the Franklin River, Tasmania where I saw Huon Pine trees while walking through timber forests. The movement of the different trees and leaves together inspired me to create a floating sideboard. The feature of this sideboard is the curved drawers which form a half-circle when fully opened and curved doors with a Huon Pine branch inlay that runs past the drawers to form the handle for the two middle drawers.

The River Side Table

‘The River’ Table skilfully and thoughtfully balances sustainable materials with a rarer source, celery top pine
